I love experimenting with new lenses. I recently got a 105mm Nikon macro lens and as soon as I started using it I fell in love with it! It is amazing how close you can get to the details, which is why I love it for newborn photography. You get to highlight all the cuteness that a baby newborn has! This type of lens is also great for portraits, especially in the outdoors. Since I work with available light it might be a bit challenging to use because I need to shoot at a lower speed but the good thing about this lens is that it offers “vibration reduction” and it really helps with any slight camera shake allowing me to get nice crisp and sharp images.
