Newborn sessions are best when babies are under 10 days old, that way they are more sleepy and easier to pose. Baby Gianmarco was a bit of a challenge at first because he was already 5 weeks and babies at that age are more alert, nevertheless I got some good sleepy shots and a lot of cute ones of him wide wake too! It was a great experience photographing him and working with his mom, the session was a lot of fun!

Newborn Session Details:

It is better to book the session before your delivery date since the best time to photograph a baby is during the first 4 – 10 days of their lives, when they are the most sleepy and easier to get into those curly poses. Their skin also looks the best during those first two weeks after birth. The session takes place at my in-home natural light studio were I have everything set up to use different backdrops and props. The studio will be kept at a warm temperature to keep the baby comfortable since all the photography will be taken in their birthday suits. Make sure your baby has a full belly before the session, that way when you arrive we can start posing right away. If you can keep your baby awake for 30 – 60 min. before arriving this will help them to make them a little sleepier for the session. Also, mommies should seat at a bit of a distance from the shooting area so we can keep a newborn peaceful, if you are too close, the baby can smell and hear you therefore it will make them restless and harder to pose. The session takes from 3 – 4 hours to allow plenty of time for feedings or changing whenever needed, so bring snacks, beverages and dress light if it gets too warm for you in the studio.

What to Wear:

For family and children sessions it is best to dress comfortable. Wear coordinating or matching solid colors and try to avoid patterns and logos. Don’t be afraid of color, you can mix and match outfits and add accessories like hats, scarfs, bows and sunglasses. Layering also creates great texture, color and adds interest to a shot. Avoid black and white colors with the exception of beach shots, under this circumstance white works really well.

Locations:

Currently I’m living at Carambola Golf Course in St. Croix USVI, if you’d like we can choose this place as an outdoor location to shoot since there is a lot of beautiful areas to use as a backdrop for your portraits. We can also go to a beach, park or we can do the session at the comfort of your home as long as there is good available light.

Proofs & Ordering:

After the session your images will be custom edited and processed, then posted on a private online gallery in approximately 2 – 3 weeks. Once this is done your images will be posted for two weeks. 
Orders should be placed via e-mail (melib74@gmail.com) within this two week period. As soon as the order is placed and paid in full I will proceed to order the prints, please allow 2 – 3 weeks for print delivery.  If no orders have been placed within these two weeks all images on the gallery will be purged.
